Riding a Used Motorcycle in Arizona Without Trouble

AZ Used Motorcycle Purchase TipsA professional Arizona motorcycle accident attorney knows how to handle problems when there is an accident. There are many types of motorcycles available for purchase for riders, but the most important thing to remember is that the rider should always be comfortable when riding. If you purchase a motorcycle used, especially from a private owner, it is important to take the bike for a test ride and to gather as much information as possible about the motorcycle.

Learning its history and running a history report are options that may benefit a buyer. Always ask if the motorcycle has ever been involved in an accident, including what damages were caused, how the accident happened, and what insurance companies were involved in the payout. Ask for a copy of the repair receipt.

Tips to Survive an Arizona Motorcycle Accident

As Arizona motorcycle accident attorneys, we see a lot of motorcycle accidents. When riding, always remember that many times vehicle drivers are not paying attention to the roadway and may not see motorcycle riders. Many times, vehicle drivers indicate that the motorcycle rider is hard to view. For this reason, when riding your bike, think to yourself that these cars do not see you. It will help you ride more defensively.

Especially be careful when riding near a driver who is on their cell phone. If a driver is on their cell phone, they are less likely than ever to see a motorcycle rider because their attention is even more diverted from the roadway.

Try to be familiar with your front brakes as this comprises 80% of your braking power. A new rider can practice this by going to a big parking lot. There are some techniques that one needs to know in order to save one’s life in times of accidents, and one such technique is called counter steering. This is actually being used by all racers currently. Lastly, try to eliminate the blind spot with vehicle riders, especially truck drivers. All of these tips may help prevent an AZ motorcycle crash.

Arizona State Motorcycle Law

Motorcycles are equipped with mufflers which may be from the manufacturer or may be equipment that reduces noise. The reason for this is that these mufflers should not exceed certain decibel levels. Take the time to have your motorcycle checked out for these noise levels.

Arizona Motorcycle Lawyers Offer Four Safety Tips

AZ Biker Safety TipsAs Arizona motorcycle lawyers, we understand the perils of enjoying the state’s open roads on your bike. In order to help riders stay safe, we want to give some tips to riders when they are on the road.

The first tip is to consider wearing a helmet. This is important even if one is just planning to go around the corner. By wearing a full face motorcycle helmet, the rider will be offered more protection. Although helmets do not always protect the rider, helmet use can offer additional protections and will also negate any arguments the insurance company about your AZ motorcycle accident injuries since you did not wear a helmet.

Surprisingly to most riders, although the law in Arizona says that riders do not have to wear a helmet, the law also says that the insurance company or at fault driver can blame the rider for his own injuries if a helmet would have prevented those injuries.

Secondly, when crossing railroad tracks, cross at as much of an angle as possible. This will help prevent an accident due to losing balance or hitting a track and stopping suddenly.

Third, when you are on the interstate road give yourself a lot of distance between the car in front of you and your motorcycle. Many times cars will stop or switch lanes abruptly and having more distance can help prevent a collision. Of course, if this happens it is not to say that the motorcycle accident would be your fault. Not all accidents are preventable.

For the forth tip, when heading through a drive thru always be careful when pulling up to the window. The reason for this is that this area is usually covered with oil from cars so it may cause your tires to be slippery.

Arizona State Motorcycle Law

Arizona requires all motorcycle operators and passengers who are under the age of 18 to wear a safety helmet based on Chapter 964 of Title 28. Now, if the rider or the passenger is over the age of 18 a helmet is not required, but if the rider is injured as described above, the at-fault driver can blame the motorcycle rider for his/her own injuries for not wearing a helmet.

Scottsdale Motorcycle Crash: Rider Sustains Life-Threatening Injuries

As Scottsdale motorcycle crash attorneys, we were shocked to hear the news of a life-threatening collision that occurred on the morning of March 15, according to the Scottsdale Police Department. The accident took place near the intersection at Pinnacle Peak Road and Pima when a pickup truck entering a parking lot turned left in front of a motorcycle and the two vehicles collided. The motorcycle rider, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to a nearby hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured and received two citations from police: one for failure to yield when making a left hand turn and the other for causing serious injury during the original violation. The intersection was closed for three hours to allow for cleanup and investigation of the incident. Our hearts go out to the motorcycle rider and his family and offer our sincerest wishes for his complete recovery.

What the Law Means For a Scottsdale Motorcycle Crash

This Scottsdale motorcycle crash is one of more than 3,500 car crashes that occur in the city each year, according to reports by the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). ARS 28-772 specifically prescribes rules for those turning left at an intersection; although these rules are often applied to other scenarios where a left-turning vehicle must always yield the right-of-way to thru-traffic. Additional prescriptions of law allow police officers to issue citations to drivers who violate the right-of-way law, as well as additional citations for causing harm in the course of their violation.

What Can a Scottsdale Motorcycle Crash Attorney Do To Help?

This victim suffered serious motorcycle accident injuries and may need extensive treatment and recovery time in order to heal. A personal injury attorney could help ease the victim’s financial and emotional stress by negotiating a favorable settlement that covers all of the victim’s medical, personal, and property costs associated with the collision. The attorneys at Breyer Law Offices, P.C. would work with the doctors treating the victim to gather evidence of his injuries, lower his medical costs, and coordinate the best care, as well as use their findings to negotiate or litigate a strong case for personal injury compensation. Mesa Motorcycle Crash Leaves Rider in Critical Condition

As Mesa motorcycle crash attorneys, we were deeply saddened by the news of a collision involving a motorcycle rider that occurred on late Thursday evening, March 15, 2012 according to Arizona Central. The crash occurred at the intersection of Broadway Road and Signal Butte Road when a motorcycle and car collided. The rider was thrown from her motorcycle and suffered severe head injuries and a broken leg, and may have also sustained internal injuries. She was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, but that does not mean the accident was her fault. The driver of the car was not injured in the collision. Initial reports indicate that the motorcycle rider may have run the red light. We hope that the motorcycle rider and her family are able to stay strong during this tough time and that she makes a full recovery.

Mesa Motorcycle Crash Statistics

This Mesa motorcycle crash is one of more than 6,000 car accidents that occur in the city each year that are recorded by the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). In 2010, ADOT reported 6,130 car crashes with more than 4,100 resulting in property damage only, but nearly 2,000 resulting in injuries. More than 2,800 collisions involving motorcycles occur statewide each year, and nearly 2,400 people are injured as a result. This is due to the serious nature of motorcycle collisions; motorcyclists are less protected than those driving cars and are therefore more likely to sustain serious injuries.

What Can a Mesa Personal Injury Attorney Do?

Mesa motorcycle lawyers can help crash victims who have sustained serious injuries in a motorcycle accident. Most motorcycle accidents tend to result in very serious injuries. The victim in this collision should consider calling a Mesa personal injury attorney to help build a case for a financial settlement. The Husband and Wife Law Team would help assess the collision and negotiate a settlement to cover the victim’s lost wages due to missed work, hospital and other medical bills, and other expenses that are a result of the collision. Arizona Motorcycle Insurance and the Law

Carrying Arizona motorcycle insurance is a requirement for all motorcycle riders in the state and as experienced personal injury attorneys we know the importance of carrying good insurance. According to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), motorcycle riders in Arizona are required by state law to carry liability insurance with the following minimums:

  • $10,000 property damage coverage for a single accident;
  • $15,000 coverage for bodily injury for one person involved in a single accident; and
  • $30,000 coverage for bodily injury total for a single accident.

Motorcycle riders need to be aware that liability insurance only covers damages and injuries to other people involved in a collision and not for the rider. In order for the rider’s damages to be covered, both comprehensive and liability insurance must be purchased.

The Truth about Arizona Motorcycle Insurance Minimums

AZ Motorcycle Crash InsuranceMotorcycle insurance is meant to protect both the rider of the motorcycle and the driver of another vehicle in the event of an Arizona motorcycle collision. Good insurance will help decrease a motorcycle rider’s additional liability and personal exposure after the insurance has helped cover the costs of property damage and medical care for those injured. Motorcycle riders need to understand that often the minimums needed to meet the state requirement for insurance will not cover serious injuries sustained in a crash. A rider that carries comprehensive insurance with bodily injury coverage of only $15,000 or that carries only liability may find him- or herself in a poor financial situation if injured in an accident with an underinsured or uninsured motorist.

Arizona Motorcycle Lawyers Discuss Motorcycle Pre-Ride Inspection

As skilled Phoenix motorcycle accident lawyers, it is important to inspect your motorcycle from time to time to make sure that your motorcycle is safe. A pre-inspection should just take a few minutes. The things that you need to check are your tires, engine and brake oils, and lastly check the gas tank. When riding a motorcycle, it is helpful to understand the basics of a motorcycle.

Statistics for Arizona Motorcycle Accident

Based on the data that the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) presented for AZ motorcycle accident statistics for 2010, it was revealed that there were a total amount of 106,177 crashes in Arizona. More so, this involved 2,735 motorcycle crashes. Of these motorcycle crashes, 83 were fatal crashes killing 86 motorcycle riders. There were 2,198 motorcycle injury crashes that injured 2,390 people.

Arizona State Motorcycle Law

In the state of Arizona, there is a law in order to protect the welfare of motorcycle riders. Motorcycle riders should be mindful of the speed limits in this state. Multi-Vehicle Marana Motorcycle Crash Injures Motorcycle Rider

As experienced Arizona motorcycle crash attorneys, we are truly concerned for the status of a motorcycle rider who was hurt in an accident on March 31, according to KOLD. The collision occurred early Saturday evening when a car turned onto Silverbell Road from Coachline Road and hit another car. The second car then struck the motorcycle, sending it over the centerline and into oncoming traffic. The motorcyclist was in stable condition at the scene and was wearing a helmet when the accident occurred.

Authorities report that she suffered a severely fractured ankle and was experiencing pain. The status of the drivers is currently unknown. We are deeply concerned over the rash of accidents involving motorcycles that have happened in the past week and hope that this rider will have a full recovery.

The Dangers of a Marana Motorcycle Crash Involving a Motorcycle

The motorcycle rider hurt in this Marana motorcycle crash suffered severe injuries but is in stable condition. This is not always the case when car accidents occur in this small Arizona city. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) reports less than five deaths annually as a result of vehicle accidents in Marana. The same agency, however, reports more than 300 injuries caused by just over 200 incidents. This means that injuries in Marana accidents occur about half as often as injuries in Tucson accidents, even though the city is much smaller and there are fewer accidents overall. Marana typically reports between 900 and 950 accidents a year.

How a Marana Motorcycle Crash Attorney Can Help

Multiple vehicles were involved in this Marana motorcycle crash, and this means that more than one driver may be liable for the motorcycle rider’s injuries. An Arizona personal injury attorney who is practiced in dealing with these types of collisions may be able to help the victim. The lawyers at Breyer Law, P.C. build a case based on factual evidence and the testimony of both witnesses and crash site experts in order to prove fault and attempt to win a settlement for the victim. Glendale Motorcycle Wreck Sends Rider to Hospital with Severe Injuries

As experienced Glendale motorcycle wreck attorneys, we are greatly disturbed by a crash that severely injured a rider on Thursday, April 5, 2012, according to CBS 5 KPHO. The motorcycle rider was traveling down Thunderbird Road when the accident happened. A pickup truck pulled out into the road in front of the motorcycle and the rider did not have enough time to stop or avoid hitting the vehicle. The motorcycle overturned and the rider was thrown to the ground where his head hit against the pavement. The rider was taken to the hospital by life flight helicopter and may have been unconscious on the way. Our thoughts are with the rider of the motorcycle at this time and we certainly hope that he will make a full recovery from his serious injuries.

How to Avoid Injuries in a Glendale Motorcycle Wreck

This Glendale motorcycle wreck could have been a lot worse, according to representatives of the Glendale Fire Department who were interviewed by CBS 5 KPHO. Representatives indicated that the man riding the motorcycle was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. In Arizona, motorcycle riders over the age of 18 have the option to choose whether or not to wear a helmet. As personal injury attorneys, we respect an individual’s right to choose whether to wear a helmet or not, but those who don’t may have a more difficult time obtaining settlements and could need a great deal of assistance from a skilled lawyer.

Why Call a Glendale Motorcycle Accident Attorney

The man who was hurt in this Glendale motorcycle wreck sustained serious injuries and will likely need a great deal of medical care in order to properly recover. A skilled Glendale motorcycle crash attorney with experience in handling motorcycle accidents could help the victim of this severe accident. The Husband and Wife Law Team would do everything they could for the man injured in this crash by collecting evidence pertaining to the collision and hiring experts to assess whether the pickup truck driver was at-fault. If necessary, we would litigate the case in an attempt to secure financial retribution for medical expenses, property repairs, and unearned wages while the man had to remain out of work. If you or someone you care about was injured as a result of a car wreck involving a motorcycle, please call the attorneys at Breyer Law, P.C. for help protecting your rights today.

Understanding the Privileges and Dangers of Motorcycle Riding in Arizona

AZ Motorcycle Safety GearArizona has a warm climate all year round, so motorcycle riders are typically on the road all year. For us in Arizona, when it is too warm out is when we more prefer to be off our motorcycles. For other areas of the country, motorcycle riders can’t wait for the warm weather come and snow to disappear.

When you do get back on your motorcycle after winter, take the time to check the motorcycle and all the parts. Take a few minutes to see what protective gear you have and consider maybe buying a new helmet. There is some good eye wear out there that protects the eyes as well and many great jackets and gloves for motorcycle riders.

Motorcycle Accident Statistics

According to the Traffic Safety Facts from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there were 4,462 motorcyclists who were killed in traffic accidents in 2009. During 2009, motorcyclists accounted for 13% of all traffic fatalities in the United States. This number is astonishing and very tragic for motorcycle riders.

Arizona State Motorcycle Law

In Arizona, the law states that those riders who are younger than 18 years old are required to wear a safety helmet when riding. Wearing protective eye gear is also recommended to all riders when riding; unless the motorcycle has a built-in windshield.

Liability Issues in Arizona Motorcycles

Motorcycles are the smaller vehicles on the road obviously. This is usually the reason why other drivers often fail to see the motorcycle rider.
