Reduce Risk of Arizona Motorcycle Accidents during Arizona Bike Week

By Motorcycle Accident Lawyer on February 28, 2012 - No comments

AZ Motorcycle SafetyDrivers can do their part to reduce the risk of Arizona motorcycle accidents. Excitement is growing for the annual Arizona Bike Week, one of the biggest motorcycle rallies in the west. The event is six weeks away, to be held March 23 through March 31. Thousands are expected to participate, and we urge drivers to watch out for motorcyclists during this time. For more information about when and where events take place or to buy tickets, visit www.azbikeweek.com.

Avoiding Arizona Motorcycle Accidents

Some of the best things you can do to avoid AZ motorcycle accidents include slowing down and driving with awareness at all times. Speeding and driving distracted are combinations that will increase your chances of being involved in crashes. Next, if you see a group of riders, make sure you allow them to travel next to each other. This actually reduces their chances of being hit, because traveling side by side makes them more visible to other drivers. Finally, never tailgate motorcycles or other cars. Leave a distance of at least 200 feet, or three seconds, between you and the vehicle in front of you when you are traveling on the highway. This can be calculated by allowing the driver in front to pass a landmark, then counting to make sure at least three seconds go by before you pass it.

Arizona Motorcycle Accident Information

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) reported 86 deaths from Arizona motorcycle accidents in 2010 and 2,390 injuries. There were a total of 2,735 crashes involving riders.

Prevent Apache Junction Motorcycle Crashes

By Motorcycle Accident Lawyer on February 27, 2012 - No comments

As Apache Junction motorcycle crash attorneys, we were happy to hear that many motorcyclists participated in the Lost Dutchman State Park Benefit Ride on February 18, 2012. The event took place at 2910 West Apache Trail in Apache Junction. Registration began at 9 a.m. and ended at 10:30 a.m. when the first rider started out. Call (480) 346-0600 or visit www.superstitionhd.com/event_calendar.asp for more information on how this event took place.

Is it Possible to Prevent Apache Junction Motorcycle Crashes?

As Apache Junction motorcycle crash lawyers, we are the first to tell you the answer is, unfortunately, no. However, there are many things drivers can do to reduce the chances they will hit and injure a motorcyclist, and there are also many things motorcyclists can do to reduce their chances of being in an Arizona motorcycle accident. Here is some more information:

Drivers:

  • Follow the three-second rule during good driving conditions. This means giving other cars and motorcycles at least three seconds of distance. Measure this by choosing a landmark in front of you, waiting for the vehicle in front of you to pass it, and then slowly counting to three seconds. If you already pass the landmark before you get to three seconds, you are too close. Back off.
  • Next, make sure to drive with awareness at all times. This means noticing when other drivers, as well as motorcyclists, are turning, slowing, or stopping.

Motorcyclists:

  • Watch for drivers who are distracted or driving erratically. Avoid them by slowing down, changing lanes, or exiting, as long as it safe to do so. Report any drivers who may be drunk.
  • Make sure your bike is in good working condition. Signal before making any lane changes or turns.

Two Injured in Motorcycle Crash during Phoenix’s Best Fest Ride

By Motorcycle Accident Lawyer on February 23, 2012 - No comments

As Phoenix motorcycle crash attorneys, we were sorry to hear the news about two motorcyclists who crashed during the Best Fest Ride on February 11. The riders were among 2,000 other motorcyclists participating in the event. The crash occurred at 2:30 p.m. on Loop 202 at Center Parkway. Luckily, it appears that neither motorcyclist has life-threatening injuries. Our thoughts and prayers are with both of them at this time, and we wish them a full recovery.

Police are unsure of what caused this crash and continue to investigate. At Breyer Law Offices, P.C., we often see drivers who make unsafe lane changes or drift into the motorcyclist’s lane, causing crashes. Other drivers could be distracted, driving aggressively past the 2,000 bikes or even drunk. It is extremely dangerous for motorcyclists when other drivers aren’t aware or aren’t sober. Motorcyclists are not as well-protected as someone in a car, and they often suffer serious injuries when they go down.

How to Avoid Phoenix Motorcycle Crash

As motorcycle accident attorneys, we will be the first to tell you that you cannot avoid all accidents. However, you can watch out and drive with caution to reduce the likelihood that you’ll be in one. This includes traveling with other motorcyclists so drivers are better able to see you, making sure all turn signals and brakes are in good working condition and never driving while distracted or drunk. If you notice another driver swerving or weaving in and out of lanes, avoid them by making safe lane changes and exiting when it is safe to do so. Allow several minutes to pass before you get back on the road. Also, frequently check your mirrors to see who is behind you, and if you notice a distracted, drunk, or aggressive driver, avoid them by safely taking the next exit as well. It is better to simply remove yourself from the road for a few minutes than get involved in a collision.

An experienced attorney can help investigate this case to determine who caused the two-motorcycle crash. When the Husband and Wife Law Team determines who is at fault, we hold that person accountable for the motorcycle accident injuries, medical bills, and lost wages accrued by the victims. We work hard to obtain settlements for our clients. Contact us today for a free consultation.

Phoenix Motorcycle Accident: Rider Puts Others in Danger

By Motorcycle Accident Lawyer on February 22, 2012 - No comments

As Phoenix motorcycle accident attorneys, we often hear about motorcyclists who are injured or killed because of other drivers; however, every once in awhile, motorists are hurt by motorcyclists who are driving dangerously. A motorcyclist was killed on I-17 near Glendale Avenue on February 8, 2012 after several witnesses saw him driving at speeds well above the speed limit, making abrupt lane changes, and endangering the people around him, according to KPHO News. It is unclear whether anyone else was hurt, but several drivers had to swerve to avoid the motorcyclist when he lost control of his bike. Two managed to avoid him, but the third vehicle struck and killed him. Our prayers are with his family during this tragic time.

How Did This Phoenix Motorcycle Accident Happen?

This Phoenix motorcycle accident happened when the motorcyclist sped through traffic, made abrupt lane changes, and then lost control of his bike. When he went down, other drivers scrambled to swerve around him, but one hit him. Police say it was lucky no cars rolled over or went over the barrier wall in their attempts to avoid the man. It is unclear whether anyone else sustained injuries, but it is likely that several cars sustained damage in this pileup.

Phoenix Motorcycle Accident Statistics

Eighty-six riders were killed in Arizona crashes, but it is unclear how many were Phoenix motorcycle accidents, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). Half of the crashes involved another motor vehicle in transport, while others included collisions with pedestrians, bicyclists, animals, and stationary objects. Half of the crashes were caused by other drivers, not motorcyclists, who were found to have performed no improper action by police.

What Does a Phoenix Personal Injury Attorney Do?

An experienced Phoenix personal injury attorney represents people injured or killed by other drivers. In some cases, this includes the motorcyclist. In other cases, the Husband and Wife Law Team will represent the people hurt by motorcyclists who were driving dangerously, as in this case. Mesa Motorcycle Crash Involves Five Vehicles

By Motorcycle Accident Lawyer on February 21, 2012 - No comments

As Mesa motorcycle crash attorneys, we were sorry to learn about a multi-vehicle pileup on US 60 on February 15, according to Fox 10. The crash caused injuries to at least the motorcycle rider, and possibly a few more people. It slowed traffic for a few hours nearly all the way back to Gilbert. We want to share our thoughts and prayers with the motorcyclist at this time, and wish him a quick recovery.

What Caused This Mesa Motorcycle Crash

We know that nearly half of the motorcycle accidents in Arizona are caused by drivers of other vehicles. While the cause of this particular incident is unclear at this time, it could be a result of another driver’s actions, including distracted driving, swerving, tailgating, and more. These actions can cause serious and even deadly incidents. Drivers are often distracted by cell phones or things outside their vehicles. Those who tailgate are at risk of running into the back of motorcycles, sending them spinning or rolling into other cars and making unsafe lane changes or swerve can cause sideswipe accidents.

Mesa Motorcycle Crash Statistics

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) did not release specific Mesa motorcycle crash statistics for 2010, but they did release them for the entire state of Arizona. There were almost 3,000 motorcycle accidents in the state in 2010, and 86 people lost their lives while almost 2,400 were injured.

Professional Help from a Mesa Personal Injury Attorney

Because there are so many cars involved in this particular crash, investigation requires an experienced attorney. The Husband and Wife Law Team would thoroughly investigate to find out which of the several drivers involved were responsible for the victims’ motorcycle crash injuries. We would then work to hold that person responsible and obtain a settlement that pays for medical bills and more. It is important to get compensation for the victims because they are often faced with extremely high hospital expenses and recovery time, which usually means they must take time off of work. Contact us at Breyer Law Offices, P.C. to see what we can do for you.

Arizona Motorcycle Crash Kills Iowa Airman

By Motorcycle Accident Lawyer on February 20, 2012 - No comments

As Arizona motorcycle crash attorneys, we were sorry to learn about the death of an Iowa airman who just recently returned from Iraq. The crash occurred near Saguaro National Park on Friday, February 10, 2012, according to Fox 10. The man was a U.S. Air Force Sergeant stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson. He was originally from Red Oak, Iowa and was 36-years-old. It is unclear at this time how the crash occurred or if anyone else was injured. Our thoughts and prayers are with the sergeant’s family during this difficult time.

This Arizona Motorcycle Crash: How Did it Happen?

This Arizona motorcycle crash could have been caused by a number of different factors. Until police and other professionals thoroughly investigate, there won’t be answers. We often see cases in which another driver swerves into the motorcyclist’s lane, causing the motorcyclist to lose control. It is also possible another driver made an unsafe lane change, turned in front of the motorcycle instead of yielding, or was driving drunk and hit the motorcyclist. It takes professional investigation to determine exactly what happened.

Arizona Motorcycle Crash Information

Eighty-six people lost their lives in Arizona motorcycle crashes in 2010, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). There were just over 2,700 crashes in total, injuring nearly 2,400. Most crashes happened through no fault of the motorcyclist, meaning that someone else was to blame for the accident.

Phoenix Motorcycle Accident Leaves Man in Danger of Leg Amputation

By Motorcycle Accident Lawyer on February 15, 2012 - No comments

Phoenix motorcycle accident attorneys at the Breyer Law Offices, P.C. were sorry to learn from a news report in ABC 15 that a motorcyclist may need his leg amputated after a February 7 crash at Northern and 31st Avenue. The collision occurred between the motorcycle and another car at about 8 a.m. It is unclear whether the other driver sustained injuries or even what happened to cause the crash. Our thoughts and prayers are with the motorcyclist at this time and we hope doctors are able to save his leg.

Causes of This Phoenix Motorcycle Accident

This accident could have been caused for many reasons, including that one of the drivers was distracted or failed to yield to the other. Because it happened at an intersection, it is also possible that one driver was attempting to make a left turn and failed to yield to oncoming traffic. Other possibilities include that one rear-ended the other when the light turned yellow and the vehicle in front stopped suddenly.

Phoenix Motorcycle Accident Statistics

There were nearly 3,000 motorcycle crashes in Arizona in 2010, but it is unclear how many of them occurred in Phoenix. The crashes in Arizona caused 86 fatalities and 2,390 injuries, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). These crashes often injure the motorcyclists since they are less protected than if they were enclosed in a car. Motorcyclist Killed In An Interstate I-17 Crash

By Motorcycle Accident Lawyer on February 14, 2012 - No comments

As Arizona motorcycle accident lawyers, we were very sorry to hear about another fatal Arizona accident on the interstate. ABC15 has reported that last Wednesday afternoon, along the southbound lanes of interstate I-17, a motorcyclist was killed due to an accident. The driver of the motorcycle was moving from the HOV lane to the first lane of traffic when all of a sudden the rider last control of his bike, which caused the accident behind him, according to DPS. Of course, there may be other reasons for why the motorcycle rider changed lanes; for instance, maybe he was cut off and the accident was not his fault.

After losing control of his bike, he was then run over by a car, to which he was then trapped under the car. He was then pronounced dead on the scene even though he was wearing a helmet. The Department of Public Safety (DPS) stated that there were a lot of vehicles that were involved, but that no one else was hurt.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim.

Arizona Motorcycle Accident Statistics

Understanding Motorcycle Accidents in Arizona

By Motorcycle Accident Lawyer on February 13, 2012 - No comments

As Phoenix motorcycle accident lawyers, we handle many motorcycle accident claims and see many motorcyclists who are seriously injured. As a motorcycle rider, if you are relaxed when riding and feel comfortable on a motorcycle, you are less likely to be injured. Of course, not all motorcycle riders are expert riders. Many motorcycle riders are on the road for the first time. As you continue to become more relaxed and comfortable when riding, it will be better for you in terms of being able to react faster when a motor vehicle is coming at you. That being said, if a driver of a motor vehicle causes an accident and you are injured, it is not your fault that you are a new rider. Most motorcycle accidents in Arizona do in fact occur between a motorcyclists and a driver of a motor vehicle.

Motorcycle Accident Statistics in Arizona

Last year there were 1,390 motorcycle accidents reported. Many motorcycle accidents were caused by a motorcycle overturning. There were 326 cases where the motorcycle overturned while on the roadway. Other causes include collisions with pedestrians, bikers, animals, fixed objects, and other non-fixed objects.

Liability Issues in Arizona Motorcycles

Safety should always be a priority when riding a motorcycle. Riders should not depend on other drivers or riders to drive safe. Unfortunately, motorcyclists have to always be on guard when on the roadway.
